Welcome to the Respiratory Fungal Infections website - IRF
The unit's scientific project focuses on fungal respiratory infections in cystic fibrosis, with particular emphasis on infections caused by species of the Scedosporium genus, the second most common filamentous fungus.
It is based around two complementary axis:
- Clinico-biological surveillance axis, with the detection of the emergence of new pathogens, the improvement of biological diagnosis methods for these infections, and the prevention of these infections through a better understanding of the ecology of the fungi involved and the identification of sources of contamination in patients.
- and the Pathogenesis and Adaptation axis, with the identification of the pathogenic mechanisms of Scedosporium granulosa fungi and their adaptation to the physico-chemical factors they encounter in the airways of cystic fibrosis patients.
