Pathogenesis and adaptation

Our work over recent years has enabled us to identify a number of pathogenicity determinants for the different species of the S. apiospermum complex. Nevertheless, data in this field are still patchy.

Progress in this field has proved difficult given the lack of data on their genome, and therefore on their transcriptome and proteome. However, given the recent availability of the complete genome of two of the pathogenic species of the S. apiospermum complex, we can now make more rapid progress in identifying the cellular and molecular mechanisms behind the pathogenicity and adaptation of these fungi.
